CHECK LIST PAGE

Bicycle:

Please arrive with your bicycle in very good working order. Fresh chain, tyres, cables, cable housing at a minumum. Also, you should be able to assemble your bicycle after travel and make most minor repairs and adjustments. Bring common tools you will need for your bicycle. It is NOT recommended to use proprietary wheels that require special spokes or are not easily repaired. A good wheel for this trip would be a Mavic Open Pro 32 spokes, brass nipples, Velox rim strip and 25mm Veredestine tyres. Note that we will be approximately 1 hr. from the nearest bicycle shop. Extra tubes, spare tyre, spare cables are a good idea to bring. Tom and I will perform bicycle inspection at the start of camp.

Cycling Clothing:

Weather is expected to be cool with temps in the 60's and 70's with one day of sprinkles very possible.

Arm warmer, knee warmer, long sleeve jersey, short sleeve jersey, riding shorts, light weight tights, socks, light weight full finger gloves, light weight shoe cover, light weight rain cape.

Other:

Good shoes for hiking. Trails are hard pack dirt and some rocks. Bring a hat for the sun and perhaps a lightweight backpack. Sunglesses are a must.

Suggested:

GPS for navigation by car is not only helpful this will make side roads more fun.

GPS for bicycle is not necessary. I will supply maps and queue sheets for daily rides.

A good book, the Hotel has a wonderful garden for quiet time

Laundry, we will have access to the commercial laundry machines at our hotel. Fair warning, French commercial machines are not easy on clothing. Bring a zippered "delicates" laundry bag.

Weather April 2012:

Risky Days
Each bar represents the risk of rain by percentage for the specified date. Expect most of the rain to fall on RISKY days (black bars), but don't expect rain on all RISKY days.

Transition Days
The Transition days (gray bars) remind the user to try to avoid RISKY days by 24 hours whenever possible.

DRYDAY® Days
The remainder of the days (yellow bars) are "DRYDAY"® days with no measurable (0.01" - less than one-hundredth of an inch) rainfall expected. The forecasts won't be perfect, but you will enjoy very favorable odds, over the long term. As you continue to use it, your confidence in the forecasts will increase.

Bar Height
The height of the bars represents the percentage risk associated with each day. In general, the lower the percentage risk, the more likely a day will be dry.
